What causes stretch marks?
Damage to the dermis is responsible for the occurrence of stretch marks – the dermis is decisive in the elasticity and flexibility of the skin. Unsightly red lines eventually become white – they are most common on the thighs, breasts and the abdomen, but they can occur in virtually any area of the body. There are several main causes of stretch marks;

The appearance of stretch marks is virtually irreversible. They can only be removed with surgical intervention, so it is more prudent to prevent them rather than treat them. Home methods can reduce the visibility of stretch marks until they become almost invisible.
What to eat to get rid of stretch marks?
Proper diet is very important both in the prevention of stretch marks, and when fighting with those that have already appeared. To reduce the visibility of these unsightly changes, you should include foods rich in vitamin K in your diet. This vitamin can be found in tomatoes, liver, dairy products, lettuce and spinach.
Zinc is also responsible for skin elasticity. In order to provide it to your body, eat nuts, pumpkin seeds, sprouts, and seafood as often as possible. Good hydration of your body is also essential – try to drink 8 glasses of water every day.
Household remedies for stretch marks
The aim of treating stretch marks at home is primarily in maximum brightening and smoothing of the skin. Appropriately composed scrubs and creams are able to reach the deepest layers of the skin, and thus actively moisturise and nourish the damaged parts. Lavender oil is perfect for making the stretch marks brighter – apply it directly on the affected areas. Lavender oil can also be replaced with avocado oil, jojoba oil or almond oil.
You can also prepare your own aloe vera cream which will make the stretch marks almost imperceptible. For this purpose, mix a cup of olive oil, half a cup of aloe gel, an oil with vitamin E, and an oil with vitamin A. Store the cream prepared in this way in the refrigerator and apply it on the stretch marks before going to bed.
To minimise the visibility of stretch marks, apply cocoa butter, shea butter and Vaseline on your skin. Also, try as often as possible to do physical exercises that improve skin elasticity and strengthen muscles. With all these methods you may soon find that the surgical removal of stretch marks is not necessary.
